Definitely you need a high clearance car to get to the trailhead, Had to park our older Subaru Forester near the entrance because 6" of clearance wasn't enough and we walked from the dam turnoff, which made it a 32km round trip. It is harder than it looks but totally worth it. Plenty of water and food. The trail leads off to the left from the road and can be easily missed. The descent will warm you up.
